I located some information on your Heathkit 10-12 Oscilloscope.
Google Search:
[instructions for Heathkit 10-12 Oscilloscope]+

I tried to locate a operation manual, but had no luck.

I have a Heathkit Oscilloscope that I assembled in around
1970. Used it last week, still works fine.

Hope this is helpful.

yes, hook it up to line output of radio or cd player it would become interesting.
Hooking it up to battery would eventually produce horizontal line.
