“LOOK at the purple capacitors … they kill your amplifiers”
Tell me about it!
I just got through repairing someone’s old 1977 era MCS Series amp. Every single purple Matsushita cap was replaced as well as replacement of a shorted STK-0050 (hybrid IC instead of discrete transistors).
What gets me about the purple caps, or at least the ones I replaced in the MCS, was the tolerance: 40% +/-.
Bad enough the caps were old and dry, but also to have such loose tolerances even when new.

A Marantz CD-400 quadraphonic demodulator for the JVC CD-4 (Compatible Discrete-4) standard.
at about 3:07 what’s the little unit on top of the receiver?
What’s that in U.S. $’s? I just bought mine for $325.00, and I know it wasn’t the greatest deal, but it looked so good I couldn’t resist.
Do you you fix ‘em and sell ‘em? How much would you sell that one for, if you did? (I just got one, so I was curious)
My dads merants somehow stoped working for no reasion. what can be wrong? i really need to rattle the windows in our house!
Yes.only bass controlable on right channel.
